India's Saina Nehwal lost her opening round match to Cai Yan of China in straight sets (9-21,12-21). Saina has to put a lot of good performances till Last tournament before qualifying ends to get  a spot in her fourth Olympics

Mixed Doubles

Pranav Jerry Chopra and Sikki Reddy lost their first round match to Wang Chi Lin and Cheng Chi Ya of Chinese Taipei in straight sets (14-21,14-21). They have to pull up their socks and play well to get into Olympics

Men's Singles

Parupalli Kashyap defeated Sitthikom Thammasin of Thailand in straight sets (21-14,21-13) to move into second round

Sai Praneeth started the event on  a positive note by defeating Tommy Sugairto of Indonesia in three close sets ( 15-21,21-12,21-10) to move into second round.  He has a very good chance of getting Lot of points.

Sameer Verma lost their first round match to Lee Chek Yuck of HongKong in straight sets (18-21,18-21). He will loose a lot of points as Sameer Verma has very less chance of going into Bwf  Tour Finals

MEN'S DOUBLES

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated Philip Chew and Ryan Chew of USA in straight sets (21-9,21-15) to move into the pre quaterfinals. All the best to both of them to produce a good performance in this tournament.

WOMEN'S DOUBLES

Sikki Reddy and Ashwini Ponnappa lost their opening round match to Li Wen Mei and Zheng Xu of China in straight sets (9-21,8-21). It is very important for this pair to produce good performances , so they can qualify for Olympics.

ASIAN SHOOTING CHAMPIONSHIP 2019 (OLYMPIC QUALIFYING EVENT)

   

Asian Games Silver Medallist Deepak kumar shot precisely to win the bronze medal in 10m Air Rifle event and get a ticket for 2020 Olympics.

He was in superb form throughout the day and showed high levels of concentration levels to execute his skills perfectly at the final chance to go to Tokyo Olympics. It was one of the best performances put by him to get a spot for India in Olympics.

Deepak shot 628.9 in qualification rounds and upped the performance in finals to score 227.8 to win a very important medal for India. He become the 10th Indian shooter to go for the Olympics.

 

BADMINTON- Fuzhou China Open (SUPER 750) (OLYMPIC QUALIFYING EVENT)

Men's Singles

Kidambi Srikanth withdrew from the tournament due to injury concerns and did not play his first match against Kento Momota of Japan.

H.S.Prannoy was not able to deliver his best on court and got defeated by Rasmus Gemke of Denmark in straight sets (17-21,18-21).

All the best to both of them to come up with good performances in Hong Kong Open.

Women's Singles

P.V.Sindhu lost her first round match to Yu Po Pai of Chinese Taipei in three close sets (13-21,21-18,19-21). Indian star should learn lessons from this match and be focussed to reach atleast quaterfinals of every tournament till Olympics. Sindhu should win the upcoming Hong Kong Open to have a chance to reach BWF World Tour Finals. It is very important for her do it, as lot of ranking points has to be retained at fag end of 2018.

Mixed Doubles

Ashwini Ponnappa and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy won their first round against Joshua Hurlburt-Yu and Josephine Wu of Canada in straight sets (21-19,21-19). Indian pair should carry this momentum and try to get as many points from this tournament to present them a good chance for a place in 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

 

 

ASIAN SHOOTING CHAMPIONSHIP 2019 (OLYMPIC QUALIFYING EVENT)

10M RIFLE MEN

Deepak Kumar shot 626.8 to finish third in Qualifying rounds and take a step closer for 2020 Olympics. Can Deepak qualify for Tokyo? We will wait and watch.

Other two Indians in fray Ankush Kiran Jahav and Yash Vardhan finished 14th and 30th with scores of 623.7 and 619.1 respectively. Both of them did were not able to qualify for finals.

India finished fifth in team event with a combined score of 1869.6.

TENNIS- SLOVAKIA OPEN (CHALLENGER 110)

Sasi Kumar Mukund lost his round of 32 match to Oscar Otte of Germany in straight sets (1-6,2-6). He was not able to give his best and got out of the tournament in opening round

BADMINTON- SAARLORLUX OPEN 2019 (SUPER 100)

Men's Singles

Emerging star Lakshya Sen defeated Hong Yang Weng of Hong Kong (17-21,21-18,21-16) in three sets to win the title for India. He played superbly throughout the tournament to get his second Super 100 Title for the country

Lakshya has been slowly rising his stakes in International badminton and got 5,500 points from this tournament. He will surely move up rankings in upcoming week.

Short Report

India showed their class in second half and scored another four goals to prove that the first match was just an off day in field. All players played their role perfectly to get goal after goal against the Russian Team. India would have scored more goals if they could have convert most of their opportunities. Hosts gelled very well and came up with a new strategy to put their opponents on back foot. After they got them back, they never gave a small chance for opponents to comeback into match

Positives

India were able to change their strategy according to match situations and stun their opponents by scoring a lot of goals against a defensive team. It is very key for hosts to use this mindset in crucial matches at Olympics, so they can win a medal for the country

Short Report

After the first 30 minute, India fought back strongly and defended very well to prevent any chances for opposition. They tried very hard to score a goal but was not able to get one past goal kepper in third quater. Rani Rampal scored a amazing goal at last 15 minutes across goal at top right corner of post. After that India got inspired and pushed really hard to get one more goal to put match out of sights for USA. Both of them played really well but hosts held their nerves very well and showed their defensive skills to win the qualifiers.

It is the first time that India Womens Hockey has qualified for consecutive Olympics. A great performance by team which would inspire a lot of young girls to take up hockey in India.

Caution

India should learn a important lesson from this two matches that is never let the opposition of hook. The fault by them nearly put in a dangerous situation and they should always keep their heads until to win the match in Olympics.

USA have comeback very strongly to score 4 goals in just 30 minutes and stun India by their strategy and perfect execution of it. Indian Skipper Rani Rampal has to take the lead role with help of teammates should play their normal games without any pressure to win the match. On the other hand, USA have completely go first game out of their head and putting their body on line to get a spot in Olympics.

Indian players have to forget first half completely and come out with greater vigour to achieve their second consecutive Olympic berth for country.

Rohan Bopanna and Denis Shapovalov played really well but lost the match to Russian pair  Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev in three close sets (5-7,7-6,8-10) . Indian and Canadian pair displayed their best brand of tennis on court but that was no enough to move into semifinals. If the pair could have won crucial points, then the scenario would have completely changed in favour of Indian and Canadian duo. All the best for the pair to win the next tournament

Rohan Bopanna earned 180 points from Paris masters which will him move up in the ATP Rankings.

Lakshya Sen showcassed his entire talent on court to defeat Max Weisskirchen of Germany in striaght sets (21-13,21-16) to storm into the semifinals.

Kiran George played out of his skins to overcome Christo Popov of France in two close sets (21-14,23-21) and step into semifinals.

Goals for the Match

Harmanpreet Singh opened the account for India with a goal of penalty stroke in fifth minute. Russia equalled it from a goal of Andrey Kuraev in 19th minute. Mandeep Singh doubled lead with a superbly goal at 24th minute. Nilakanta gave a superb half to Sunil for India to make it 3-1. Second Goal from Mandeep Singh made it 4-1 for host nation. Russia gave a hope for themselves by a goal in last minute of match.

Short Report

India defeated Russia 4-2 to get the momentum for second qualifier match. Men's Hockey team had a very bad day on the field as they missed so many opportunities to score a goal.  They started the match on a strong note with a goal but Russia came well prepared to get more chances and possession in first quater. Russia's pressure on India paid them dividends by scoring a goal at 19th minute. Midfielders of host nation created a lot of goal scoring moments in which one of them was converted into a second goal by Mandeep.

Russia played really well throughout the match and executed the strategy to perfection to put India under a lot of dangerous moments. They failed to convert their chances as a result they were able to score just two goals. On the other side, India proved why they were ranked fifth in world by defeating a opponenent on their bad day at hockey field.

Host Nation will surely come well prepared in next match and book ticket for 2020 Olympics.

 Description of Goals

Lilima Minz scored first goal in 28th minute and lead was doubled by Sharmila Devi in 40th minute to make it 2-0 for India. Gurjit Kaur successfuly converted penalty corner to make it 3-0 and other goal turned match completely to hosts. She scored her hattrick to top cherry on cake and took game completely out of sight for opponents. USA came back with one via their Skipper Kathlien Sharkey.

Short Report

India thrashed USA 5 goals to 1 to take one step closer to securing a spot in Tokyo Olympics. Indian girls started match on back foot as USA were able to control match very well in the first 15 minutes. After that, home team started to take aggressive root and went into half time 1-0. The second half was totally dominated by host as they scored two goals in second half to demoralise opponent team. India team consolidated the lead very well but USA scored one goal of penalty stroke to get one ball to their team.

Hockey Team executed their strategy and plans perfectly after seeing opponents game plan in first quater. It was a superb game for India and they just have to maintain it, so they can qualify for Olympics. All the best for them.

Lilima 28th

Lilima Minz broke the deadlock by scoring opening goal for India in 28th minute of Game. India played really well to create three penalty corners and use one of them to hit past line. It was a very good comeback after first quarter and should defend more precisely to prevent USA from scoring any goals in next 30 minutes.

Goal Keeper Savita Punia and Captain Rani Rampal were the best players for India till half them. All of them should combine together and defend well to win the first olympic qualifier

Irfan clocked 1:25.09 to finish fourth in Men's 20 Km Race Walk. He had a disappointing race as Irfan was not able to produce his best to win a gold medal for India.

Indian Doubles Pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty recorded one of their biggest victories by defeating second-seeded Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan of Indonesia in three close sets (21-18,18-21,21-13) in 53 minutes. Young pair came up with a strategy and executed it to perfection and win the match to move into quarterfinals. All the best for the pair to win their second title of this season. Saina Nehwal thrashed Line Hojmark Kjaerafeldt of Denmark in straight sets (21-10,21-11) and moved into the quaterfinal stage. She is playing really well to get the first title of season.

P.V.Sindhu defeated Yeo jia Min of Singapore in straight sets (21-10,21-13) and moved into the quaterfinals. She also has a very good chance of getting the title for our country.

Sasi Kumar Mukund put a good fight but was not able to win his round of 16 match against Alejandro Tabilo of Chile. He lost the match in straight sets (4-6,3-6)

7TH CISM MILITARY WORLD GAMES (ATHLETICS)

Shivpal Singh threw the spear to a distance of 83.33m to win the Gold for India in Men's Javelin Throw. It was his second-best throw in his entire career. This medal will give a lot of confidence to the youngster and improve the chances of qualifying for the 2020 Olympics.

Abhishek Singh finished fifth with a throw of 74.54m in the same event

In heats of 400m Hurdles, Jabir MP and Santhosh Kumar of India clocked 50.88s and 51.73s to qualify for the finals. All the best for them.

Pranav Jerry Chopra and Sikki Reddy lost their first-round match to Chris Adcock and Gabrielle Adcock of England in straight sets (13-21,18-21). Indian Pair gave their best against higher-ranked opponents to show they are on the right path to come back to their best.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponappa played really well but were not good enough to defeat the fourth-seeded Seo Sung Jae and Chae Yunjung of South Korea. They lost the first round match in straight sets (17-21,18-21).

We hope both the pairs come back strong and gather more points to improve their chances of qualifying for Olympics

 

Badminton- French Open (Super 750)

Men's Singles

Parupalli Kashyap lost his first-round match to Ng Ka Long Angus of Hong Kong in straight sets (11-21,9-21). Parupalli was not in his elements and not able to give a proper performance on the court.

Kidami Srikanth played very well but lost the first round in three close sets (21-15,7-21,14-21) to second-seeded Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei. Srikanth captured first set and looked well set to win the match. At that point, Chou Tien came back like a storm to win the match.

Sameer Verma was defeated by Kenta Nishimoto of Japan in a thrilling 84 minutes encounter. Sameer showed glimpses of his talent on the court but was not able to win the crucial points and lost the match in three sets (22-20,18-21,18-21)

We hope all the players come back and give super performances in upcoming tournaments.

7TH CISM MILITARY WORLD GAMES (ATHLETICS)

Muhammed Anas (400m) was not able to run his best in finals and finished a disappointing fourth with a time of 46.70 s. We can hope Anas will come back much stronger in Olympics year and give amazing performances for India

Badminton- French Open (Super 750)

Subhankar Dey showed his entire set of badminton skills to defeat Tommy Sugarito of Indonesia in three close sets (15-21,21-14,21-17) and moved into round of 16. All the best for the next match.

P.V.Sindhu made a great start to tournament be defeating Michelle Li of Canada in straight sets (21-15,21-13) and moved into pre-quaterfinals. Sindhu should win this tournament to improve her chances of moving into world tour finals.

7th CISM Military World Games (Athletics)

Avinash Sable (3000m Steeplechase) clocked a time of 8:36.49 to finish second in heats and qualify for finals. We hope Avinash runs a very good race in finals to win a medal for Country. All the best to him.

Mohammed Anas((400m) won the heat with a time of 46.74 s and moved into the finals. All the best for him to win a medal for India. The finals is scheduled for tonight

Latrobe City Traralgon (Challenger 80)

Sasi Kumar Mukund played really well to defeat Sebastian Fanselow of Germany in straight sets (7-6,6-3) and moved into round of 16. All the best for next match

LIUZHOU OPEN (TENNIS- CHALLENGER 80)

Top Seeded Prajnesh Gunneswaran thrashed Nicolas Barrientos of Colombia (6-2,6-1) and moved into the round of 16. This tournament is very important for him and he has to win the title to maintain his rankings. It will also play a very crucial role to increase the chances of qualifying for Olympics.

Sidharth Rawat lost his round of 32 match to Zhe Li of China in straight sets (2-6,3-6). He did not play upto potential and we will hope he comes back strong for next tournament.

Top seeded Prajnesh Gunneswaran put up a  good challenge but lost to Steven Diez of Canada in straight sets (3-6,4-6). He played very well and was expected to get the title for India. We can surely hope he will make a good comeback and win a title in 2019

2019 ITF WTT W100 SUZHOU

Ankita Raina put up a very good fight against a higher ranked player but she was not able to win the crucial points and lost match in straight sets (4-6,4-6). This tournament result would give a lot of confidence for the future tournaments

BADMINTON- DENMARK OPEN (SUPER 750)

Men doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireaddy and Chirag Shetty lost their prequaterfinal match to sixth seeded Han Cheng Kai and Zhou Hao Doing of China in straight sets (16-21,15-21). Well played but hard luck for this match. All the best for the upcoming Tournaments.

Sameer Verma lost to fifth seeded Chen Long of China in straight sets (12-21,10-21). He tried his best but could not match up to lofty standards of Chinese Player. Sameer will surely come back from this loss and give good performances in the next tournaments.

India's P. V. Sindhu was able to perform to the high level of skills set by her and lost the round of 16 match to An Se Young of South Korea in straight sets (14-21,17-21). Sindhu should be very careful about not losing to lower-ranked players in future tournaments and try to gather a lot of points to improve her ranking in the Olympic qualifying year.

India were not able to deliver their best on the night against Bangladesh. Indian team was expected to get three points from this match to move forward but got only one point in match. They were able to get only one point which will not help their causes to qualify for third stage.

India are in fourth position in their group with three points and it could take miraculous effort from India to get to the third stage. We can hope our country can turnaround fortunes to achieve their dream.

Sai Praneeth Sails into Quaterfinals

Sai Praneeth came up with a brilliant game plan to defeat the sixth seeded Anthony Ginting of Indonesia in straight sets 21-19, 21-13 and marched into quaterfinals. Praneeth plan was to play a high risk badminton throughout the match and suceeded in it to stun the Indonesian Player.

Indian Player has still not lost a set and reached his second consecutive World Championship Quaterfinals. He displayed his entire skills and if he continues to do so in the next match, Praneeth will definitely win a medal.

Prannoy loses in Round of 16

H.S.Pranmoy put up a very good fight against the top seeded Kento Momota but lost the match in straight sets (19-21,12-21).  In a match which lasted close to one hour, both of them played really well to entertain the badminton audience across world.

Prannoy played brilliantly throughout the touranment and defeated five time World Champion Lin Dan to garner  5,200 points in this Level-1 Tournament. It will boost his confidence level and help him to move up the ladder of World Rankings. Great Performance by Prannoy.

 

END OF QUALIFICATION ROUND

At the end of the Skeet Men Qualification- Anand Jeet Singh finished 42nd with a score of 116. Angad Vir Singh and Mairaj Ahmed Khan finished 75 and 80th with scores of 113 and 112 respectively.

None of the shooters secured a Quota place for Olympics. They have to be at their best in Asian event to secure a sport for India in Olympics

Performance of Indian Shooters

After four rounds, Anand Jeet Singh lies in the 38th place with a score of 93. Other two shooters Angad Vir Singh  and Mairaj Ahmed Khan are lying at 65th and 79th place with scores of 91 and 90 respectively.

All the shooters have been below par and no one has a chance of entering the finals as there is only one round left. Shotgun Shooters can try to qualify for the Olympics using their final chance through Asian Shooting Championship.
